It is moving week. Although Jack and I moved most of the stuff out of our apartment in DC on Friday, I am back here finishing out work. My current living conditions are such:
Lawn Chair
Air Mattress
Plastic Plates and utensils
My MacBook
My food processor
Don't ask me why I kept my food processor. I couldn't part with it.
And of course, my dog, Remy is sticking it out with me. She is not happy about the change.
So you'll have to forgive me for the lack of creativity in this post. I have no cable tv. I sent away for the 2nd season of Mad Men on DVD from Netflix only to realize that my mail forwarding kicked in on Saturday. Therefore, I have been relegated to watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Real World on Bravotv.com and MTV.com, respectively.
I'm not proud.
HBO doesn't even show reruns of True Blood online. I used to work for HBO. I feel betrayed.
The only books I have in the apartment are the Dexter books (the inspiration for the Showtime TV Show), Dracula, and the Perfect Scoop by David Lebovitz. Reading the first two books at night scares me. Reading the last book makes me hungry.
But let's get to these brownies, chosen by Jaime of Two Scientists Experiementing in the Kitchen. All I can say is that I loved these. I topped some with Caramelized White Chocolate and others with just plain old white chocolate (which I LOVE. No haters, please). I loved these. I loved the hint of orange. I loved the ease of the recipe. I loved the frosting on top (I liked the plain white rather than the caramelized). This recipe is definitely a winner.
And the tiny size is perfect to fit in my cute little kitchen.
Click here for the recipe. And click here for the rest of the TWD brownies that I am sure were cooked in very large kitchens with gas stoves with rooms with beds and full fridges, and cable, and...
That has to be the most hilarious thing I've heard... makeship everything, and a food processor... perhaps as a blanky???!!! LOL Talk about loving your tools! LOL
Either way, those are very well done! Very mouthwatering!

I feel your "moving" pain. Good luck girl. Amazing you did the brownies. So cute, too. I love Dexter, Mad Men, and True Blood. I will keep my fingers crossed that you will get the second season soon! Take care and hang in there!

Oh no! At least you've got your computer... I don't think I could live without mine! Your brownie buttons are adorable, too! :) Good luck with the rest of the move!

That is a hilarious picture in my head. You in a lawn chair with your laptop and your food processor sitting next to you and Remy on the other side! HA :) Good luck during the transition. Your brownies buttons look great!

I currently have the 2nd season of Mad Men on netflix! Exciting! (well, for me. sorry.)
Soon you (and your food processor ;) ) will have finished the transition and you too will be able to look back on these days and smile. At least you have easy, adorable brownies.

You're a trooper to make these amidst the chaos of moving from one city to another. Good luck with the move this week!

Oh good, I loved these too! I've read lots of mixed reviews. Yours look adorable! Good luck with moving - hope you are back with all of the comforts of home in no time (meanwhile, I'm glad you kept your FP with you - good call).

Your brownie bites look delicious! I really enjoyed them too! You have my sympathy for your current living situation - I'm not sure I'd last 2 days without cable :)

The brownie buttons look so cute and tasty! I love to make little brownie bites, but they always disappear too fast.

I hear you on the moving. But I'm glad it's going well. So don't worry about not being able to blog or make the posts look as creative. The food looks delicious either way.
So...you're a true blood fan, too, eh?? I want to start reading the Dexter book. Can't get enough of those show!!!
I think brownies are an awesome "moving" treat. Delish!!

I skipped the orange and loved the brownies, at least the one that I managed to save for myself!!
Posted by: Marthe | August 11, 2009 at 03:44 PM
Please.... the fact that you made them and didn't skip a week is amazing! Shows true dedication and a love for baking! Hope your moving goes smooth - that's always such a hassle. But you'll have a re-organized kitchen, think of it that way! Perfect "moving" Dorie goods this week - couldn't be simpler! Love that you varied the toppings (mmm... caramel and white chocolate)! They look fantastic!
