This tart has been on my mind since I started my blog a little over a year ago. You see, this tart was chosen as the dish of the week on June 10th, 2008.
It was my second week as a member of Tuesdays with Dorie, and I wanted to be a little experimental. So I had the brilliant idea to use blueberries instead of strawberries, and then make a lemon cream instead of using jam. Little did I know, in my nascent baking days, that this was a completely different tart altogether and that I was not as brilliant as I thought I was because I didn't invent lemon cream and blueberries.
This was my tart (you may want to look away for this part):
Not my proudest achievement. What a difference a year makes, no?
1 year, two months later (to the day), and a Nikon D40 later, I have now redeemed myself. This simple, yet elegant dessert was the perfect summer treat, using sweetened, ripe strawberries, a mixed berry jam, and topping it with some homemade almond whipped cream.
So simple, so elegant, and now I know not to mess with perfection.

You've come a long way Baby! That looks like something out of Bon Appetit - or one of those fancy magazines! Tarts still scare me - the crusts do anyways. I'll check out the recipe - although lemon and blueberries are one, if not THE favorite combo of mine. Looks heavenly - truly!!!

Gorgeous! And I have no doubt it tastes great, as well. We MISS you so much already and I have to send you a couple of great pics from our last night BBQ. By the way, I have been craving the banana crisp each and every day since our last dinner. I think I may attempt it for my banana loving father.

Well done! You certainly have redeemed yourself, although I'm sure the original creation was delicious. The difference between your two photos reminds me again why I need a new camera.

Waaaaaaaaay too hard on yourself. Your blueberry one looks good, too. Much better than anything I did a year ago.
Btw, hope you're cool with it but I added you to my blogroll. Holla....LOL!

Oh YUM! Magnificent strawberry tart (and the blueberry one's not so bad either!) Very impressed that you know how to use a fancy camera, I can barely figure out my point-and-click!

It does look amazing. And the blueberries and lemon cream are good too. I look back to when I first started blogging and that time sure does change you. I have learned so much. I think that is cool and to share it with other bloggers feeling the same way- even cooler.
